CNC YYC Urban Habitats: 12-Mile Coulee

Explore the 12-mile Coulee with Karel Bergmann in search for hundreds of townsendias, crocus, and other spring wildflowers. Keep your eyes peeled for wildlife in the rich aspen forests.

***Warnings***: Due to Difficult terrain, this adventure is not recommended for anyone with walking difficulty. There is limited parking in the neighborhood, so please carpool if you can and respect private property. Follow the directions below and walk the distance and make observations on your route! Better Map to come! Call if you are lost!

Expected Walking Distance 4-6km.

Location: 12-Mile Coulee, Tuscany

Directions: From Stoney Tr NW, go W on Tuscany Blvd to Tuscany Way Turn S (left) and go 1.9kms. The road becomes Tuscany Ravine Road. Park in open area under power line. Here, carpool (due to limited parking.) and go another 1/4km further S. Walk down a fairly long steep hill (probably not for anyone with walking difficulty).

Target Species: Plants. Hundreds of Townsendias, Birds, Insects, Wildlife
