City Nature Challenge Workshop: Britannia Slopes
April 22, 2019 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Free
Just in advance of the City Nature Challenge Calgary Events we will host a mini BioBlitz at Britannia Slopes and show you everything there is to know about documenting your local biodiversity! Legendary naturalist Gus Yaki will be leading the tour and discussing the flora and fauna found along the slopes.
At this workshop you will learn how to interpret the world as a citizen scientist. We will cover all of the basics of iNaturalist on your smartphone and give you tips on making great photos and observations. We will show you how to explore observations posted in your area as well as how each observation you make can contribute to our understanding of Calgary’s unique urban ecosystem.
This event is for everyone and will prepare you for the City Nature Challenge April 26-29. Families and kids are welcome to participate. Some of the things we will document include Prairie Crocus and other spring flowers, birds, mammals, fungi/lichen, insects (spring pollinators), and any other evidence of life we come across!
