City Nature Challenge: Flora of the Weaselhead Area

The Weaselhead is one of the most beautiful natural areas within Calgary! Explore the rich biodiversity that exist along the trails of the park and catalog your findings for CNC YYC. Together, we will learn about the trees, shrubs, grasses and any spring native flowers that are brave enough to show themselves. Keep your cameras on hand so you can document any wildlife or insects along the walk. We will hike approximately 4 km.

Meeting Place:

Weaselhead North Parking Lot (Grey Shed), corner of 66th ave and 37 st SW.

What to bring:

  • Have iNaturalist downloaded and an account created on your smartphone or tablet. You can also create an account online at www.inaturalist.ca if you will be uploading your photos from a desktop.
  • Camera, smartphone, or tablet to take photos and make observations.
  • Water and a snack.
  • Weather appropriate clothing and shoes (no indoor facilities available).

***Warnings*** It could be muddy or icy on the trails and Spring weather may be unpredictable. There is no indoor shelter and no washrooms after we start our hike. There are outhouses in the parking lot.
