City Nature Challenge Bioblitz Workshop: Reader Rock Garden
April 21, 2019 @ 1:30 pm - 3:30 pm
FreeJust in advance of the City Nature Challenge Calgary Competition we will host a mini BioBlitz at Reader Rock Garden and show you everything there is to know about using iNaturalist! Legendary naturalist Gus Yaki will lead us on a fun exploratory tour through this historical Calgary garden.
This will be a workshop for you to learn how to interpret the world as a citizen scientist and master iNaturalist! We will cover all of the basics of iNaturalist on your smartphone and give you tips on making great photos and observations. We will show you how to explore observations posted in your area as well as how each observation you make can contribute to our understanding of Calgary’s unique urban ecosystem.
This event is for everyone and will prepare you for the City Nature Challenge April 26-29. Families and kids are welcome to participate. Expect to document and learn about garden plants, birds, mammals, fungi/lichen, insects (pollinator focus), and any other evidence of life we come across!
No Registration Required, Just Show up! We will meet in the main parking lot.
