(Cancelled) Call of the Wetland: Monitoring Urban Amphibians
April 27, 2019 @ 8:00 pm - 9:15 pm
Free****This Event has Been Cancelled****
Did you know that wetlands provide ecosystem services that are important to our well-being, but little is known about the health of Calgary’s urban wetlands? The Call of the Wetland citizen science program aims to change that, so that wetlands in YYC can be better understood, protected, and managed.
Call of the Wetland is a program in which citizen scientists survey wetlands in Calgary for amphibians as an indicator of wetland health. Join us at an urban wetland in the SE to learn how to sign up for surveys on the app, how to identify between amphibian species, and how to complete daytime visual and nighttime call surveys. Please wear outdoor-appropriate clothing and close-toed shoes.
All species observations made will be submitted as part of the City Nature Challenge that takes place April 26-29! Bring your cameras to document any wetland plants, insects, or wildlife while you are out!
